Artisan install Masterframe sashes in conservation area B&B for over £1000 a window

Artisan photo 1Denbigh-based Artisan Conservatories, Windows and Doors recently replaced 10 windows with Masterframe’s Bygone Collection PVC-U sashes in a townhouse in Conwy. “The property is a Bed and Breakfast in a world heritage site within the walls of Conwy Castle,” explains Artisan’s owner, Ian Gibson. “It’s a beautiful conservation area. We took a sample window to the planning department so they could be sure that these windows were in keeping with the property, and complied with building regulations. The customer, Mr Naughton, paid over £1,000 a window - the margins on Masterframe’s sashes are impressive.”

Artisan photo 2Mr Naughton says the benefits outweigh the costs: “The windows are superb. They’re in keeping with the original Victorian style of the timber sashes we had taken out. They look like traditional sash windows but noise is reduced, and they’re easy to clean. Our B&B, The Town House, is three stories high on a busy main road, so noise was a problem. We also couldn’t get them cleaned because the window cleaner’s ladder would have to be in the middle of the road - far too dangerous. Customers who have been visiting our B&B for years have been surprised at how much difference the windows have made to the house. It not only looks better, it’s much quieter inside.”
