Masterframe, Jack-of-all-trades? No, just master of one. As you will see from the site, we specialise in sash windows. The Oxford English dictionary defines "specialist" as, "one that produces something to the exclusion of all other", thats us! We only make sash windows, so when claims are made from so called specialists, first ask the question, is that the only product they offer? Why just sash, why just PVC, surely you're missing an opportunity to fit the windows as well, I hear you ask? Well that's true we are missing these opportunities, but it's a conscious decision. We've fitted windows for authorities, for housing associations like The Peabody Trust, and major house builders around the country, but the truth of the matter is, it required a different discipline, it required site supervision that created more problems than it solved, so we followed grandmas advice and decided to "stick to the knitting", to do what we are good at, to stay focused and not become distracted. Why just sash, and PVC? Well having spent a total of 34 years in the window business, the MD and owner always wanted his own company, and during his time with a leading German extruding company helped design the UK's first dedicated PVC box sash in 1984/5 (still in use today). Whilst it seemed every double-glazing company in the UK was busy installing inappropriate windows, unsympathetic to their surroundings, in all honesty he became quiet despondent with the damage these inappropriate casements were doing. Nobody else wanted to offer sash windows, so masterframe was formed to offer a real choice for people who wished to retain the best characteristics of sash windows in a modern material Although unknown to most retail customers, within the window industry we are recognised as market leaders, pioneers for sash windows, producing approx 15-20% of the UK`s PVCu sash windows. We supply over 2,000 of the estimated 12,000 window installation companies in the UK. Lets put it a different way, we make more PVCu sash windows than BAC, Everest, Zenith and Anglian make, combined! Products today are a vast improvement on those of the 1980's. These are entirely due to the continual research, development, redesign and investment we've made since we started. Each and every component has been looked at, modified and improved. Things like Georgi clips, cams catches, limit stops, lift out pivot bars, draught baffles, balance retaining clips, external staff bead, internal staff bead trim, torso balances, wood white effect, continuous horns, equalized Georgian panes, Energy efficient glazing to name just a few. But don't be fooled, we've had our share of disasters. Cills leaked, profiles twisted, balances that failed.............but each of these provided a greater depth of knowledge and because the failure could seriously damage our business, we corrected it, we found solutions, we invented widgets to overcome the issue, that's why our products are more expensive than other so called specialists, they have extra components to make certain those faults NEVER reoccur. There's much to discover, lots to decide. We've produced a series of Buyers Guides of sash windows, Glossary of Terms will help you through the decision making process that lays before you, all we ask is you trust that we are different, we're NOT a "double glazing company", so if you are building your dream home, responsible for refurbishing homes for the elderly, developing a new build site for a multinational or simply seek a supplier of sash windows that will retain the character, charm and beauty of the existing windows, and harmonise with the surroundings then we have the products for you. We'd be delighted to receive you feedback, good or bad, comments are always welcome, it provides us a chance to improve, and stay ahead of your rivals! We'll be delighted to help you through any part of the process and promise to be there if things don't go to plan, should you need. Jack of all trades? No, master of one... sash windows. |
