Cowboys trapped

Program Airs Thursday 21th October on BBC1 at 11:00am

Here at Bygone Collection we’ve remained outspoken against bad practices and so called ‘phoenix companies’ in the window and double glazing industry since our formation. Phoenix companies are firms which go out of business, usually due to poor quality products and installation procedures, and then return to the industry and trade under a different name.

We’ve now taken our commitment to quality one step further by featuring on BBC documentary the Cowboy Trap this October. The program, which is to be broadcast on Thursday 21st October 2010 on BBC1 at 11am, sees Bygone approved installers replacing inappropriate windows with our high specification Bygone vertical sash windows.

We’re therefore urging everyone to watch the informative program in order to raise awareness and promote safer buying practices when improving the home.

Unfortunately, some windows installers assure their customers that they’re fitting genuine Bygone sash windows when instead the homeowner is receiving lower quality windows which are improperly fitted.

That’s why we continually stress the need for property owners to use our approved installers scheme, as this guarantees both a product and fitting procedure which is completely genuine and second to none in terms of standards.

In the upcoming documentary, we were pleased to finally provide the windows which the featured homeowner thought they were purchasing first time. Sadly, the original purchase was from an unapproved installer with no connection to us here at the Bygone Collection. This resulted in unsafe windows which, according to some assessments, could have blown inwards into the property during a strong wind.

In keeping with our dedication to a safe and fair industry for consumers, both the team here at Bygone Collection and Bygone Installations Essex and the wider Masterframe Windows company lent their support to the affected homeowners’ campaign for justice.

This culminated in brand new sash windows for the damaged property and a new lease of life for the victims of the unscrupulous installers. For more information tune into BBC1 on 21st October or watch the video afterwards on the BBC’s iPlayer.
