AN EXTRAORDINARY HISTORICAL CONNECTION

Rob and Rachel Walters, owners of Derwent Sash Windows and our Bygone Premier Partners in Ripley, Derbyshire had always known that their beautiful Victorian house was a special place, steeped in history and named ‘The Manse’ situated on Cromford Road.  Little did they know that when they purchased The Old Church on Nottingham Road to house their new showroom that they would discover an extraordinary connection.

On recent inspection of the title deeds for their house, Rachel found that they included the names of two Reverends and Trustees of the Primitive Methodist Church, Reverend Bennett and Neale, whose names were engraved in the stone tablets around the outside of the church that was now their showroom.  It became clear that their home was in fact the Manse for the Old Church a remarkable coincidence indeed, that both should now be owned by the Walters family.

Carol Slade, Sales and Operations Director for Masterframe, manufacturers of the Bygone Collection said “Derwent Sash Windows Ltd has been a valued partner on the Bygone Network since 2002.  We are very proud to say that Rob and Rachel were so confident in the Bygone product that they replaced 31 original timber box sash windows in their house on Cromford Road with Bygone PVC-U sash windows.

Furthermore, when the renovations were carried out to the Church in 2016, we were privileged to manufacture the magnificent arches that have elevated the building to its former glory.  We were so impressed with how the Church has been transformed into a stunning new showroom, with the arches being the inspiration behind the new company logo.”  Carol continues “Both the Manse and the Church have a fascinating history and connection and there are many parallels between our authentic products that are lovingly manufactured to embody all the attributes of original timber windows and the way in which the church has been restored.  This is a testament to the specialist work that Derwent Sash Windows is so well known for.

The before and after pictures  show how the old church has had a complete facelift,  yet no time, resources or effort has been spared in paying homage to this special  building and maintaining the original character.  The quality of the renovation, craftsmanship and professional installation of the large arches, proves beyond a doubt that Rob and Rachel are most worthy owners of this historic building as well as The Manse.  We are delighted that the new showroom shows off our product to its best advantage and it is fascinating to see how the site of the old Organ and pulpit has been transformed.”
